It's official: no more jokes about Tsawwassen with tracks
from 54-40. I'd like to apologize to the good folks from
Tsawwassen for the 73 jokes I made over the last few years;
one for each of you.

From the official SAGA website: "We are happy to officially
announce that Michael Sadler is once again the Singer and
Frontman in Saga!! The new studio CD and tour news with
Michael will be up very soon!"

Along the lines of the "N" word being replaced by "slave" in
Huck Finn, the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council released
a decision this month concerning the broadcast of the song
“Money for Nothing” by Dire Straits . They concluded that
the presence of the word “f_ggot” in the song was
unacceptable, and that the word must be edited out for radio
broadcast.

It was an honour to introduce both Nash the Slash and SAGA
in St Catharines. Both have contributed immeasurably to
Canadian music both here and abroad.

Niagara motorists voted Welland Avenue in St Catharines as
the region’s worst road. You know the road is bad when it
gets elected twice: first as Welland Avenue, and again as
Fourth Avenue. Drummond Road in Niagara Falls and Broadway
Avenue in Welland also made the CAA list of Niagara's
worst roads.

Roger Waters HSBC "The Wall" show, Oct 8 2010, review: if
you can get tickets to a performance, get them. This is "The
Wall" full scale. The most spectacular concert since Floyd
was on tour in the 90's.
Sep 2010
There were some remaining tickets released for "The Wall"
show at the HSBC, as I mentioned on a broadcast earlier in
the month, but within hours of me opening my big mouth, they
were gone. Sold out again.
Jun 2010
As of this posting
there are still tickets available for the HSBC performance
of "The Wall" on Oct 8. Toronto is sold out.
May 2010
So you thought you might like to go to the show... Roger
Waters is touring "The Wall" this fall.

Congratulations to Vancouver for a great Olympic games; nice
job! But where is Cypress Mountain? I've skied Cypress Bowl
many times on both Strachan and Black Mountain, but despite
the resort's name, there is in fact no Cypress Mountain in
the area.

The buzz about Conan and Jay is everywhere right now. Moving
Jay to 10pm seemed like a good way for NBC to save money
back in the fall, but they left the door wide open for the
other networks to make a killing in the ratings. Now Jay's
going back to "Tonight," Conan's out, and NBC is in hot
water.

Hosting Classic Rock Thursday: Live from Casino Niagara has
been great so far. The staff and crew at the Casino are
excellent. Drop by one Thursday night and say hi.

The moon landing 40th anniversary was this week. We took an
on-air poll Monday: was it all a hoax? 24 said hoax, 62 said
real. You can view pictures of the Apollo landing sites
taken from the LRO (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter) at
nasa.gov.

Hosted the morning show for a week; something I haven’t done
for a while now. The last morning show I hosted was on Pulse
107 FM in the 90’s. I used to say doing mornings is like
living on the dark side of the moon, but I was single then.
With kids and a family, it’s not so bad. I had a great time
on air; Rita and Peter were super.

Niagara water rates are going up, apparently because we're
getting better at conserving water. The argument is that up
to 90% of production costs are fixed, so when we use less;
it costs more to produce it. It makes sense, but it feels like we’re being punished for
trying to conserve.

“Buffalo is a big gang town,” said a member of the FBI’s
Behavioral Analysis Unit. “The murder rate alone was over
700 people.” These lines aired on a new episode of
Criminal Minds this past week. I looked it up; the actual
number was 55 with only 22 murders within the city limits
during
2007. I suggest that the show apologize to Buffalo, and
supply a few of the palm trees that appeared in the episode
as reconciliation.

Encouraging people to shop at local businesses whenever
possible. These difficult economic times should inspire us
to support our community in every way possible.

Talking about the state of the music industry, and how new
music makes younger people fans of classic rock. Although
there are very talented new artists around, they're missing
the passion and purpose of previous generations. Just as an
example, think of how many songs you can associate with
Vietnam... now how many about Iraq? Peace, love, war,
environment, society, politics, etc... Bruce Springsteen
can't do it all by himself. We need new artists to step up. |

I love summer, but you have to be extra cautious on the
roads around here at this time of year. Crazy driving has
returned to the Falls. The chaos starts every year in July
and fades out in autumn.

The wind blew my fence down, ripped the shingles from my
roof. A shifty claims adjuster came to modify the truth. We
wait for help, for repairs, but it doesn’t really matter. In
the end our rates go up, and the Bay Street gang gets
fatter.

The UK Film Industry is making a comeback. Recent films like
The King's Speech, Harry Potter, Nanny McPhee, Slumdog Millionaire, Hot Fuzz,
Children of Men, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and the
Bond revival are bringing British films back to the big
screen here in North America.

There may now be more investment money gambling on whether
or not BP will be able to pay for the Gulf clean up without
going under than it would cost to cleanup the Gulf. Perhaps
it's time to close the casino permanently; obviously the
reforms did next to nothing.

The October 1, 2007 legislature that most Canadian adult
passport holders can act as guarantors is a great step
forward for democracy in Canada.

Overseas phone support jobs should be brought back to Canada
and the USA. I'm tired of support people with little or no
knowledge of what they're talking about; plus we could
really use the jobs here even at minimum wage.

Ontario is looking into what the province could get for
privatizing Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp, the Liquor
Control Board of Ontario, Hydro One Inc. and Ontario Power
Generation, perhaps they should read Aesop's The Goose That
Laid the Golden Egg before making any rash decisions.

The tom-toms have it that the Canadian TV networks will be
asking for a new $10 fee to be added to our monthly bill. We
are already force fed Canadian network feeds on channels
that are supposed to be US networks, and now we'll have to
pay extra for that. I hate to say it, but perhaps it's time
for lawyers to get involved.

Introduced Kim Mitchell over the weekend at Canal Days; also
Gov'nor Generals, Street Pharmacy, and the Half Ton Knights.
Our local Niagara bands were excellent.

Our family doctor appeared on the cover of the newspaper this week.
In the photo, he is being arrested by police while
protesting the closure of Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort
Erie. People burned a huge “H” on the lawn. Surely there's a
compromise to be found that would solve this ongoing issue.
Apr 2009
I had the honor of introducing Classic Albums Live: Pink
Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon at Brock University. I
spoke about the 1975 concert at Ivor Wynne, the passing of
Richard Wright in Sept. 2008, and how Floyd used some of
the money from DSOTM to fund the film Monty Python and the
Holy Grail. It was a great show; Rob Phillips was awesome as
usual. Thanks to Craig for introducing me.

Several people have spoken up lately about poor service from
the banks. The banks treat us well when we bring in
business, but as time goes by the service wanes. I hope this isn't a trend.

Spent an evening at the Copacabana night club in Long Beach
checking out local acts; if you've seen "8 Mile," you've

Old family friend Les F. came by for a jam; he's been

Spent an hour jamming with keyboardist Brendan B. He's
